Websites Created From Google Business Profiles Are Going Away – March 2024

google business sites are discontinued.

Why is this important?

Do you have any websites where the URL ends with business.site? Maybe you still post occasionally to your Google Business Profile (formerly known as Google My Business), and the post displays on the website?

Historically, Google used to offer a feature that allowed for the creation of a simple website (which ended in business.site) based on the information from your Google Business Profile.

This feature has been discontinued. Google began rolling out an update on March 5, that will take down that website; and instead will redirect that URL (your business.site) back to your Google Business Profile, but only through June 10. Then the redirect ends and the website is shut down completely. The Google Business Profile itself is not affected.

Keep in mind that in any other place where your Google business.site website name is used, after June 10, your customers will see only a “Page Not Found” error message -
no more redirecting, not even back to your Google Business Profile. If you are running
ads based on this website, they will stop running.
