At Your Service Mobile Notary

home page after redesign

The Client: I first met Laura Biewer when she was an instructor for a workshop I took at the National Notary Association in 2013, in Austin, TX. I was struck by her teaching style and when I realized she lived only an hour away from me in California, being a new notary, I asked to meet with her for some tips. That was the extraordinary thing about Laura; she was very knowledgeable about the notary field and was always willing to pay it forward. She was also a gifted CA-state-accredited instructor for the mandatory education for notaries, but also had a successful notary business of her own. Fast forward 13 years later, and many business developments between both of us; even collaborating together starting in 2016 to put on the Notary Symposium. This was a one-day notary conference designed to help notaries new and experienced, without having to travel (such as to the NNA's annual conference). We eventually had to pivot in 2020 to a virtual version (which was highly successful and included all 50 states). Justly deserved, in 2026, she was awarded the prestigious 'Notary of the Year' by the NNA; after announcing her retirement as a state notary instructor. She will continue her own notary business in California.

What Happened: 18 months ago, she asked me to set up my Care Plan for her long-established website. This year, she made the decision to refresh the website to a new theme, and modern appearance. See the old Home page below.

Tech Side: I built the new site using the Beaver Builder theme and page builder. I was able to get rid of extraneous plugins that caused software bloat and performance issues. In addition, I transferred both the domain registration and hosting away from Godaddy; everyone knows how I can't stand this company. She wanted to keep her original logo, so I designed a new color palette based on that. She never had Google Analytics tracking data, so that was set up. We placed her Google Reviews feed on the Home page, also highlighting 3 featured blog posts there. 15 of the 19 blog posts were 'evergreen enough' to recreate on the new site.

This client continues to keep a KMS Care Plan in place, which allows her peace of mind in not worrying about backups, updates, provides monthly minutes towards making changes, and much more.
